Keep in mind that if you print and mail your return, the steps to check your e-file status won’t work for you. When your e-filing status changes, we’ll email you to let you know. The IRS occasionally experiences a high volume of traffic, which can delay processing returns. If it’s been more than 48 hours since you submitted the return and your e-filing refund status is pending or hasn’t changed, wait an additional 24-48 hours before you check again. If your status is “E-file status ready,” choose Check Status and follow the steps on the screen. If the e-filing status says something other than “E-file transmitted” or “E-file status ready,” you need to follow the steps provided there to finish filing your return. If you see the status “E-file transmitted” or “E-file status ready,” that means you filed your return successfully. To check your e-file status, go to Overview in the H&R Block Online product. If your e-filing status is pending or not updating more than 48 hours after filing your return, you need to go back and make sure that your e-file was successful.
